About

In my practice, I challenge the often unspoken, unquestioned assumptions that shape our behaviours and interactions with the world. Society hands us a set of expectations, about how we should look, behave, or think and these norms are absorbed so deeply that they may not be recognized as constructs. My work aims to expose this blind compliance, pushing against the boundaries of those invisible rules and taboos to stimulate debate.

Through my sculptures, paintings, and photography, I explore how these expectations confine us and shape our perceptions of what is ‘normal’.   In my 3D work, I often repurpose discarded or familiar items, transforming them into new forms to comment on how society dictates usage. It’s a metaphor for how we are conditioned to comply largely without challenge.

In my 2D work, I seek to capture moments that feel ordinary on the surface but are rife with contradiction. By highlighting the tension between what we’re told is true and what we often know, deep down, is a lie, I draw attention to the invisible rules we obey without question.

With careful use of dark humour and playful titles, I invite viewers to reflect on their own complicity in these norms and offer a space for them to enquire ‘Should I accept this?’.  The title selection is intentional and offers a pathway for interpretation while preserving the autonomy of the viewer.

Ultimately, my work encourages a dialogue about how societal expectations shape our lives and identities, questioning the cost of conformity and the power of breaking free from it.
